So I made a commitment to myself to just love myself, unconditionally.” -Taryn

  • “I just don’t think doing everything for everyone else should be such a wonderful attribute. If you’re doing everything for everyone else you’re not doing enough for yourself and I don’t think we should feel selfish about putting ourselves first.” -Elizabeth
  • “Another thing I give myself permission to do is outsource a lot of stuff. I have a sick amount of stuff shipped to my house because I would rather spend time making dinner than going to the store and buying diapers. So I pick the household tasks that give me the most happiness and fulfillment and I do those things and then other things, I get help with.” -Elizabeth
  • “When we give ourselves permission to decide, this is what I want to engage with and why and get help and support to do the other things…instead of trying to do it all, then our life becomes so much more joyful because our actions are aligned with our values.” -Annalicia
  • “You don’t have any idea how those little things will add up. And the reality all those little things, that’s your whole life.” -Elizabeth
  • The quote Annalicia mentioned: “Success is how you collect your minutes. You spend millions of minutes to reach one triumph, one moment, then you spend maybe a thousand minutes enjoying it. If you were unhappy through those millions of minutes, what good is the thousand minutes of triumph? It doesn’t equate. Life is made of small pleasures. Good eye contact over the breakfast table with your wife. A moment of touching a friend. Happiness is made of those tiny successes. The big ones come too infrequently. If you don’t have all of those zillions of tiny successes, the big ones don’t mean anything.” -Norman Lear
  • “Think about all those little things as being opportunities to really enjoy something.” -Elizabeth
  • “Food is another thing…feeling guilty about it is not an option. I hate the term guilt-free food.” -Elizabeth
  • “Feeling guilty, just in general, is not a beneficial feeling. It doesn’t make you do anything better. It only makes you feel worse about yourself which then makes it harder for you to do the next thing better. I think there’s no place for it. It doesn’t mean I don’t have it sometimes, but the more you can get rid of guilt the happier you can be.” -Elizabeth
  • “I used to be so obsessed around rules with food and numbers around exercise and then I’m like, ‘What is this all for?’ I’m really realizing how, as a culture, we think that everyone’s goal should be to be skinny. And we think to the route to that is guilt. I can’t but help think, what if our future generation, what if the default goal was kindness, toward self and others, and think about how much unnecessary stress that generation would avoid and how many cool things they could create if we assumed kindness was the goal instead of skinny.” -Annalicia
  • “Overall, I think most people need to do is just give themselves a break. So much of people being upset at others and lashing out at others is coming from how they feel about themselves.” -Elizabeth
  • “As soon as you give your self-worth to somebody else, it’s gone.” -Elizabeth

  • “What I’m most passionate about is not only creating these delicious and simple recipes, but also really helping women, especially, find peace with food and find what works for them because I believe that there’s not one single approach to nutrition and diet that works for everyone. What makes you feel your best? Not your mom or you best friend.” -Stacie
  • “What fuels your friend’s body might not be what fuels your body.” -Annalicia
  • “I think that’s what food should be about, it should aid us in feeling good. When we have a relationship with food like that, then it’s a really beautiful relationship. When food becomes about all the other things, like calorie counting, it’s really hard to hard to have a beautiful, synergistic relationship with it. So, Stacie, I love that you bring it all down to your feelings.” -Annalicia
  • “There were so many numbers that I forgot the soul purpose of food was nourishing our bodies to get the nutrients we need so that we can have the energy to live life to our fullest.” -Stacie
  • “Food doesn’t have to be about weight.” -Annalicia
  • Stacie encourages you to start a food journal, not to track calories, but to increase your awareness of how you feel when you eat certain things.
  • She makes reading food labels easy. The only thing you need to look at on boxes, she says (and I totally agree), are the ingredients.
  • “Part of my definition of ‘healthy’ is not being ‘healthy’ all the time.” -Annalicia
  • Stacie weighs in on Bulletproof coffee.
  • She says, “In the end it’s not about a specific diet to follow. It’s all about balanced nutrition.” She goes on to give great tips for how to avoid confusion and keep nutrition simple.
  • “I always encourage people to ask themselves, ‘How is the food that I’m about to eat going to nourish and fuel my body from the inside, out?’” -Stacie

  • Melissa talks about her first scholarship recipient who is now a senior in college, studying to be a teacher.

  • “It’s like there’s these little messages of love that get to pass through our hands everyday in our design studio and we get to become a conduit for that love.” -Melissa
  • Melissa shares about the struggles in her life that led to the creation of her company. Including, a divorce and three deaths in the span of 90 days.
  • “This is something I really love to talk about more privately than I do publically, but I’m really glad that you asked it. I know this sounds dramatic, but Compliment rose out of the ashes of a really dark time. So, the things that I do to make sure my life is on a positive path are what you see from my company.” -Melissa
  • We chat about the power of implementing gratitude practices, forgiveness, and quiet time alone into your life.

  • “The better I’m getting at forgiving, the less there is I need to forgive.” -Melissa

  • “This whole busy thing is kind of part of your imagination and what our culture is really hyped up on. You can take a couple extra minutes to enjoy whatever it is you’re eating and that makes such a difference in your digestive process because we actually have digestive enzymes that start in the mouth that break down the food. So the more you chew, the more you readily digest that food. So it’s really good for you body and more pleasurable.” -Kristi
  • Kristi encourages you to enjoy where you are now.
  • “The great thing about life is we constantly get to recalibrate and adjust.” -Kristi
  • We talk about the beautiful blend of discipline and tapping into your intuition. We agree that the danger of discipline is when we decide our worthiness comes from what we do instead of who we are.
  • We talk about how we’re not machines, we’re humans. And, along the same lines, how collectively we’ve shifted from industrial age to the relational age.
  • “There’s something in leadership studies that we say a lot, ‘Relationships before tasks.’ What that means in a lot of leadership literature is that relationships are the currency of power.” -Kristi
  • A book Kristi loves: “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up” by Marie Kondo
  • “I really believe as within, is outside.” -Kristi
  • “Take aspects from your past and integrate them into your life now.” -Kristi
  • We discuss the importance of rituals and traditions.
  • “Laughter is one of the fastest ways to create rapport.” -Kristi
  • Kristi shares how we’re on the edge of shifting to a completely new leadership paradigm.

  • “Cravings are not the problem, they’re the solution.” -Joshua Rosenthal
  • “We have cravings for a reason. They’re a message, they’re a symptom of something else going on and sometimes that’s emotional and sometimes that’s biological, but they really are these powerful messages and if we keep ignoring them, the underlying issue never gets addressed. But when you do address the underlying issue, suddenly you can make massive changes because you’re not just masking the craving all the time.” -Annalicia
  • Heather answers the question, “What’s so vital about women feeling vital?”
  • We chat about the important of honoring our desires.
  • “The biggest thing we’re afraid to do as ladies is to be still. I know that was the case for me.” -Heather
  • “Food should be pleasurable. Weight loss should be pleasurable.” -Heather
  • Heather talks about the importance of reflecting on who you were as a little girl.
  • She shares her advice on what to do when you’re stuck in the cycle of knowing what you should do, but not doing it.
  • “If it was simply just about the knowledge we’d all be where we’d want to be, but the truth is that food is more than just the know-how. It’s about the emotion. Food is emotional and we are emotional beings.” -Heather
  • Heather shares great tips for emotional eaters who do a lot of self-sabotaging.
  • We chat a bit about “upper limiting” and Gay Hendrick’s book, “The Big Leap”.

  • “Once I got on the pill, I quote-on-quote regulated my period, but really what was happening was I just stopping ovulation and then that kicked off another hormonal imbalance. So, I almost went from having too many hormones to have too little hormones and that caused a lot of health issues.” -Nicole
  • Her personal struggles became the catalyst for the work she does today. She’s passionate about being open to many different modalities to help heal the root cause of women’s health issues.

  • “Hormones basically run our entire bodies. They’re responsible for like 98% of things that happen in a woman’s body.” – Nicole
  • Nicole’s goal with all women she impacts with her work is to increase their intuition and sense of empowerment. She’s not interested in masking symptoms. Instead, she helps women get to the root level of what’s going on.
  • “It’s really about being your own advocate and then using whatever modality feels best to you.” -Annalicia
  • “If we don’t pay attention to that inner wisdom for long periods of time it becomes a smaller voice. But, when we don’t listen to our gut we always end up regretting it and I think that’s important to remember when it comes to our health.” -Nicole
  • Nicole says that most women think they have a really unique problem, but for the most part, the underlying cause of all unique problems can be linked back to just a few hormones. She discusses these hormones and how diet and lifestyle affect them.
  • She shares a lot about the supplements worth taking to improve your hormonal health.
  • Nicole offers a lot of comfort, assuring that multiple symptoms doesn’t usually mean hundreds of things are going wrong in your body. Instead, multiple symptoms are often pointing at only a few, root-level things that need to be addressed. She says it doesn’t have to take a ton of time or hard work either.
  • “Miracles can happen in a really short space of time and with kind of minimal effort. It doesn’t have to be this life-changing, dramatic thing. I can actually be small doable changes. ” -Nicole
  • Nicole says your period is like your monthly report card.
  • She offers some amazing tips to get healthy, glowing skin. She also shares great advice on natural ways to boost your fertility.
  • “At the end of the day, your fertility is all about where your hormonal levels are at.” -Nicole
  • We talk about stress and how it affects your health and hormones.
  • “Our bodies are exactly the same as they were 10,000 years ago, genetically speaking, and everything has changed on our planet in the last 30 years. It’s bizarre. We’re literally running from that sabre tooth tiger 90% of the time vs. 10% of the time like our ancestors were and our bodies don’t know the difference between running from that tiger and being stuck in traffic or having a really awful conversation with our boss. Our bodies perceive that stress exactly the same.” -Nicole
  • “When you connect back with your body and how your hormones are supposed to function, it’s the most amazing thing. You literally start to feel like yourself again.” -Nicole
  • Nicole says problematic symptoms are simply your body asking you to do something differently.
  • “You are the queen of your health and the designer of your life.” -Nicole
